What's Been Going On?

So... I guess the biggest piece of news around here has been that I broke my hand last week.   A weight dropped on it from a weight stack on a machine... and of course my hand happened to be in the way.  After driving myself to the ER they confirmed my nagging suspicion...my 5th metacarpal was broken in 3 spots, and I got this lovely splint.  After seeing the hand specialist this week... I left his office with only an ace bandage and a promise not to use my right hand.  I'm thinking maybe I should have left with another splint...... Anyway... I'm doing much better, the hand is feeling less sore, but it is blue and swollen.  Since I haven't been doing much of anything but carpool lately.... I thought I would show you some photos.... I can use a computer mouse and I don't think typing is too strenuous on my hand.  Here goes....

My lovely splint that could not get wet.  Check out Gabby in her bathing suit AGAIN!  It is the first thing she puts on in the morning.
Gabby working on a puzzle in her bathing suit of course!
Here is a cute photo of Amanda....I was practicing doing her hair for Justin's wedding.  It was impossible to keep the curls in it.  I used so much hairspray and the curls still fell out.
I have a ton of pictures from the wedding, but I'll just share a few.  I'll save the others for another post.... The morning of the wedding...  Uncle Justin just arriving at the church...
I was editing some of the pictures... The first dance....
I liked this shot of Brad and Justin in the limo...everyone was relieved now that the I Dos were out of the way...  and Bradley didn't lose the rings... and the ring actually slid over  Justin's dislocated, Neanderthal knuckle, to prove that he was in fact married....
The junior bridesmaids were so cute... with honorary Gabriella...
The bride and groom... So happy....
Nicholas was trying to teach his Dad a couple of new moves on the dance floor.  Everyone was asking where Nicholas picked up his dancing abilities.  I told them we always have dance parties in our living room and try to come up with new moves.  I think that is where all the creative dancing comes from.
Or it might come from the homemade, outdoor, dance floor on our driveway.  You could request a song on the sidelines and the kids would play it on the i-pod and then you had to watch them dance...
 Some of the moves....
Nicholas on the second-to-last day of school.  He was given a certificate for the  "Best Overall Student."  And.....Gabby in her bathing suit!!!
Soccer season came to an end in June.  Gabby was screaming on the sidelines and jumping up and down. "Go Nick!  Go Nick!  Go Nick!"  That was a huge improvement from the fall soccer season when she couldn't jump or put a string of words together.  Way to go Gabby!
A glimpse of Soccer Season...  Do you see the photo where he is holding up 1 finger?  He had just scored 2 goals and was letting us know he needed to score one more to tie up the game.
This is what the last day of school looks like...
We had a huge water balloon brawl at Aunt Mo Mo's house on Father's day.  It's a good thing she bought a 500 pack of water balloons.
Everyone was in on the action...even the adults...I couldn't get the splint wet so I took pictures carefully from a distance...with my left hand!
The water balloon throw down in action....
No one was safe.... except the girl with the splint!
Such an adorable picture of my new niece... She was resting in her car seat so I had to take advantage of this beautiful little baby
We made homemade vanilla ice cream the week school got out.  It was loaded with calories, it was expensive (Do you know vanilla beans run about $7.50 for one pod?), but it was SOOOO delicious and SOOOO easy!
The process.... Dump in the cream, sugar, and vanilla...
Watch it mix for 20 minutes :)
What do you know?  Homemade ice cream... so simple.  I can't wait to try some variations and some lower calorie options... The possibilities are endless.
Gabby enjoyed it.  She has been asking for an ice cream cone every night... She is in her bathing suit once again.  I wasn't kidding when I told you she wears them every single day.
Nicholas opted for a root beer float with homemade vanilla ice cream....DELICIOUS!
Just in case you were wondering......  I found this funny.... Nick came downstairs with this stuck to his shirt...
I've been playing in photoshop..... editing pictures and I made this layout with a template I found on-line...It came out so cute and I just love the photo of the kids!

That's a little bit of what's been going on.  I love summer and all the laid back activities it brings with it.  I think I need to rest my hand. Until later....

New Photos

I'm back....with lots of photos from the end of the school year, having fun with family, playing games, swimming, Justin and Crystals wedding... and the list goes on.  I had planned to share these photos 2 weeks ago.... but it seems as if they are just surfacing now.

A few fun shots before school one morning...

Amanda was so excited when she got her late birthday present... a new phone... the "meanest-mom" finally agreed....
She is thrilled with her unlimited texting...at least I know where she is at all times.  She loves to text me.....  Riding bikes, At Hailey's House, When are you coming to pick us up?  Nick is bothering me.... My match is starting soon... Waiting... On in 5 mins....TTYL..Kk.  Every 5 minutes is accounted for.... which is not such a bad thing :)
All three of the cuties after breakfast...
Gabby has a new obsession.... At one time it was dresses... but now she would rather opt for a bathing suit these days.... She takes off her pj's in the morning and the suit goes on.  It makes it difficult dressing for school or going to soccer games or going to the grocery store.
Wearing her new Minnie suit while doing puzzles....

The kids had their first piano recital in May.  Nicholas was checking out the order in which he would play.  Amanda wanted nothing to do with photos.
Nick chose one piece from his performance book called "Tap Dance" and Amanda played "Oom Pa Pa."  Both were quick and catchy tunes.
Here's Amanda during her performance....
Nicholas introducing himself, his age, and telling the piece he was about to play....

I was so proud of both kids.  They were AWESOME and my heart was bursting.  I was so proud that they were able to go in front of a group of people and perform.  It was a great feat and it can only help build confidence and self-esteem.  I hope they continue to enjoy playing the piano.

Nicholas was awarded a certificate for performing in his first recital....

Amanda was proud too!

Lots more fun stuff to come.  Everyone have a great week.  Until later......
