Melia's Baptism

Last weekend was packed with family and fun.  Saturday night we spent time with Bob and Kaye and the kids to celebrate Megan's birthday.  We had a great dinner, relay races in the backyard, lots of jumping on the trampoline, and caramel, bumpy tea cake to finish off the night.  I didn't take one photo... I was coming down with a cold, and I guess I just didn't have the energy to be behind the camera and in everyones face.  I'll make sure to take plenty of pictures when they come for dinner in 2 weeks.  The next day was Melia's Baptism.  Once again I did not do a very good job of photographing the event.  However, Amanda grabbed my camera during the ceremony and all of these photos in church are courtesy of her.

I guess Gabby was catching up on some prayers or the church bulletin....  Emmersyn just wanted to get this show-on-the-road....
Very impressive.. Amanda was right in on the action.... catching the anointing with oil...
And I love this shot.... Melia didn't even let out a squeal.... she was happy to be welcomed into the church...
The proud parents and cutie Melia Olivia....
We went to Brad and Laura's after the ceremony and the kids had a great time playing in the backyard... It was a little chilly but the kids didn't seem to mind. Here is Gabby coming down the slide all decked out in a dress and sparkly shoes.... exactly what you should wear to play in the backyard!

What a handsome guy!  I love Cameron's cool hair-do that was gelled-up (is that even a word?) without any help from Mohamed.
Mr. Tyler.... busy and energetic as usual....
Mo... trying to corral everyone in her dress and 3 or maybe 4 inch heels that have sunken into the grass...

My Amanda hanging out and helping to take care of all the cousins....
And lets not forget the Guest of Honor.... I think this is the only shot I took indoors the entire day.  It was a great party and so nice to see everyone.

And... I had to take a picture of the last minute cookies I made... I mean... Laura did ask if I might have any cookies lying around.... and I happened to show up with these..... I'm just taking photos for future reference. Crystal continues to say she will market my cookie company :) and did you know that Laura said she would be on board too?.... and how about Kaye?  Or how about Mohamed.... he is so persuasive.. I might just have the beginnings of a culinary cookie team. Hmmmmm......
Well, I've got to go and start dinner.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Until later.....

Soccer, the Jumbotron, and More Random Things....

Let's see... its early October... and the kids are counting down until Halloween, talking about buying costumes and carving pumpkins, eating candy, and wondering if Aunt Mo Mo is going to have a Halloween party this year...  I can already tell this month is going to bring a lot of excitement and LOTS of pictures.  Before we get into all this talk about fall.... I'll show you exactly what has been happening these last few weekends...

For starters.... There have been soccer games every weekend. Nicholas was deep in thought in the photo below... you would think he was preparing for the game, focusing his energy, and trying to mentally get ready for the game.... when in actuality he was hoping there were chips for his after game snack!
Nicholas's team is very young and inexperienced this season... it is fun when they play another young, and inexperienced team... But when you get a group of kids out there that know what they are doing.... it is not so fun to watch his team get hammered.
Amanda really detests the soccer games, and Gabby secretly loves them.  This is because Amanda always takes her to the park.  It is a win-win situation.... Gabby is thrilled to get to play and Amanda  doesn't have to sit and watch her brother.  (And did I mention I can actually watch some of the game.) She texts me from the park for game updates, half time check-ins, and to see when Nicholas has scored a goal.
Just thought this was a great shot!
From my i-phone... Steve and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary a week early and went to a Tiger's game at Comerica Park.  This was a fun date night and different from our usual dinner and a movie or poker.  I think the game was against the Twins... I can't remember.  It was an exciting game with a lot of hits and runs being scored.  The evening was a little chilly, but the rain held off and it was a perfect night.
Here we are at the park.... this is almost the exact way we looked when we got on the huge Jumbotron in left field. In between innings I'm always checking out the huge screen to see what is going on in the crowd.... of course Steve is watching the players throw around the ball...Well what do you know.... all of a sudden they flashed the 2 of us on the huge screen.  I went crazy of course!  I started waving, like a nutty person, because people-can-you-see-us-we-are-on-the huge-t.v.!  Then I proceed to grab Steve and give him a big kiss.... and then just in case you didn't see me waving like a nutty person 10 seconds earlier... I started waving and grinning all over again.  Steve was like, "What... What... Did we win something?"  Honey this is winning enough.... after all these years of wanting to be on the Jumbotron... our faces finally got plastered up there!  The lady sitting next to Steve was cracking up.  He was wondering where the camera was... and who was watching us... I figured they just spotted the only goofy girl wearing a winter SCARF to a baseball game in September.  Let's put those 2 out in left field where they belong.....
That same weekend we were invited to dinner by our friends.... It was our girlfriend's birthday and I was asked to bring a side dish... but come on.... Do you know me? I love desserts.... and because it was a birthday and all..... Amanda helped me make cupcakes....
Oreo cupcakes with Oreo frosting.... They were sooooo GOOD!  Steve requested that I not make them anymore because they were so addicting. I cheated a little on the cupcakes because I chose not to make them from scratch.  However you put an Oreo on the bottom of each cupcake, and I folded Oreo chunks in the batter, so I guess they were semi-homemade.  The frosting was made from scratch and it was Oreo cream cheese frosting.  Delicious!  I will definitely make them again for another occasion.
The finished product... but more importantly.... How old does Amanda look in this photo?
On a totally different topic... Gabby has been taking up some new activities at school including: tennis, swimming, and ballet.  This is a tennis clinic I enrolled her in at the same time that the kids are taking their 2 hour tennis group.  At least this makes 1/2 hour fly by and I only have to entertain her for an hour and a half more.  The photo was far away and from my phone so it is not great.... but there she is in her skirt and sparkly, sequined, purple tennis shoes.
And more pictures from the soccer field... I told you there have been a lot of games lately...
Gabby was not fast enough to get away from Steve and he delivered a good tickling.....
And there is Amanda.... OMG... my brother scored another goal... Gr8... can you ride bikes later?  kk, TTYL
So that's all I have to share today... I'm getting tired and I'm off to relax and go to bed.  I had so much energy earlier because I just finished watching the Tigers win their opening post-season game.  Let's hope they can do it again tomorrow.  Go Tigers!  Until later......
