Gingerbread Festivities

So... after lots of computer trouble I ditched my old DELL, and with some persuasion from Steve, I was gifted a new computer :) So far.... so good... I haven't tried that much photo editing yet... but I downloaded new photoshop software the other day, and we will see how it differs on a Mac.  So this is really a learning post for me today.  I'm going to upload some photos and we will see what happens.....

Wow! I'm so happy.... here are my test photos that I'm sharing with you from our gingerbread festivities.  They uploaded with NO issues!

Traditionally the day after Thanksgiving I put up all the Christmas decorations and the tree.  Since the holiday fell so late this year, I was prepared and put the decorations up last week.  Therefor, I decided to decorate gingerbread houses on Black Friday.   I invited Bradley and the kids, and my friend and her daughter, along with my 3 experienced decorators to decorate houses.  Unfortunately, Mo couldn't make it with Cam and Emmersyn.... we missed them but maybe next year..... you see the Canadians had school on Black Friday :(  Anyway.... here are some fun photos from that morning....

Before everyone arrived I made one big Gingerbread house and some smaller houses out of graham crackers.  This year instead of hot glue, I used burnt sugar to glue the pieces together.  It worked perfectly.  Brad brought over a small gingerbread village that Laura had purchased.  With my 11 years of gingerbread experience, I saved him lots of trouble putting together the houses with icing.  He used the burnt sugar like an expert.  He made an A-frame, a shanty, a cottage, etc....  Maybe he should have been an architect and not an engineer!
We put out lots and lots of candy to decorate.  I actually took this picture later in the day.  I think the only candy left was gum balls because Tyler had eaten sooooooo much of it!
The kids were hard at work .....
I can't believe any M &M's made it onto Tyler's cottage.... most of them ended up in his mouth!

Gabby was working hard to glue all the decorations on her graham cracker house before Tyler ate them..... believe me... it was a race against time!
The pro putting some finishing touches on the back of her house
The artists......
Even Melia was able to decorate her shanty with help from Dad.....
I think Opal had a great time....
A fun photo of the whole crew....
 The final works of art.....
What a fun morning.... I think Gingerbread Friday will become a new, recurring tradition in the Herdoiza household!
So now that I know what I'm doing on my new computer.... I'm looking forward to putting more posts  on-line.  Until later.....
